Recently, the Tanzanian government, with the assistance of the World Bank launched a major restructuring of the country's extension system including the introduction of the training and visit (T and V) extension. The T and V extension has some inherent weaknesses particularly if implemented without any modification to the Tanzanian context, due to lack of resources and other complimentary services. Recommendations are given to make the T and V system of extension more effective under Tanzanian conditions.enAgricultural extensionT and V extensionExtension managementAgricultural developmentSmallholder agricultureReforming Tanzania’s agricultural extension system: the challenges aheadArticle
